2. recycling research recycling technology recycling community recycling WEEE directive |
DARP Environmental Ltd are a not-for-profit Environmental Body based in southwest England.
We undertake various research, technical and community projects, in an integrated approach to improving the amount and range of waste recycled.
Our current projects include the development of innovative recycling technology, and piloting a WEEE Recycling Network in the South West region.
Having begun as the Devon Appliance Recycling project in 1998, it was soon realised that there was a particular problem with the material contained in fridges.
Lorie and Stuart Randall, now directors of DARP Environmental began to investigate the disposal of ozone depleting CFCs found in fridges and looked to Europe for an answer.
As a result of their forethought DARP has been instrumental in bringing in technology from Germany to solve the UK fridge crisis.
We are now busy looking for solutions to the requirements of the WEEE Directive, when in 2006, 75% of all electrical waste will have to be recycled. |
