 Tracy and her husband Shane have been re-homing greyhounds for around fifteen years. Tracy first fell in love with the dogs when she went to the local re-homing centre in Sussex, and came away with retired racer 'Shiny Stockings', a very timid black bitch, that was hidden away at the back of the kennel.
Tracy then turned her attention to finding homes for more retired greyhounds, and for the next twelve years re-homed hundreds of dogs in the Sussex area. Three years ago Tracy and Shane moved to Bideford, North Devon and set up a centre there.
Covering Devon, Somerset, and Dorset, the couple have re-homed over four hundred dogs in this time, and covered several thousand miles in the process. Tracy plans in the future to concentrate on re-homing black dogs only as these dogs tend not to get picked as often as the more prettier of colours, and as such, tend to stay in the kennels much longer.
Tracy explains, "Because we care for black dogs for months at a time, we tend to build closer relationships with them, rather than the others. Different colour doesn't mean different personality !"
