We are a friendly, caring, lively and challenging college with a main campus in Tiverton and another vocational centre in Honiton. We have about 800 full-time students, 300 apprentices, 2,000 part-time students and we provide training for 130 businesses.
Most of our students come from within East and Mid Devon, but we also train people in locations across the whole of Devon and south Somerset. We have over 200 staff ranging from science and art lecturers through to hairdressing, beauty therapy, construction and engineering. 4. Going to QECC |
produced by the pupils of Queen Elizabeth Community College Lower School and ICT teachers. Its purpose is to help and advise year 6 pupils in the local primary schools who will be attending QECC in year 7. We hope it will help them find out what it is like in a much bigger comprehensive school and to answer any queries and concerns they may have. It is based on questions asked by pupils at feeder primary schools and the experiences of year 7 pupils when they first started at QECC last September. |

5. NEW CULLOMPTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE |
Cullompton Community College is a co-educational comprehensive school for students aged between 11 and 16. We currently have approximately 650 students on roll; Cullompton area is a growth area and the roll is predicted to increase in the long term.
Cullompton is a small town situated 1 mile from the M5 at junction 28, 15 minutes north of Exeter and in easy reach of Dartmoor, Exmoor and the Devon coast. Exeter is a culturally and commercially developing city with a new shopping centre opening in 2007, new leisure developments, university, museum, cathedral, international airport, theatre and concert hall.
The college opened in 1968 on the present site and became fully comprehensive in 1979. The college was purpose built and has benefited from the addition of two new buildings; technology in 1998 and science in 2003. A new Sports Centre with a gym and an Astroturf pitch has been added for community and school use. The college is well equipped with a full range of classrooms and specialist facilities for each subject. The college has six computer suites and two laptop trolleys as well as IT access in every teaching base. Every teacher is provided with a laptop and every subject area has at least one interactive whiteboard, with a development plan to extend the facilities. The school hall is equipped with a large electronic screen and presentation facilities, plus lighting and sound equipment for productions. Much of the school has been refurbished in the last three years providing a new staffroom, a new music suite, a study centre and a business centre. We appointed a professional chef in 2005, subsequently school lunches have been of an exceptional quality providing a choice of meals and a vegetarian option each day. |
