Michael Roberts, the founder and writer of the Gold Cockerel Books series, was brought up on a mixed farm and from an early age has been involved with poultry and small livestock. He has a passion for the countryside and all that goes on in the country. He founded the Domestic Fowl Trust in 1976 and ran it successfully for 22 years. Sixteen years ago he brought out "Chickens at Home", the first book in the Gold Cockerel series and since then has produced 15 more titles. He sold the Domestic Fowl Trust in 1997 and moved with Sara Roadnight to Devon to concentrate on more writing. Sara edits and illustrates all the books which are packed full of useful information, most of which has been gained through first hand experience. |
